ntsc-rs: Rust-based open-source emulator for authentic NTSC and VHS artifacts

ntsc-rs is an open-source video effect that recreates the look of analog TV broadcasts and VHS tapes by modeling the underlying signal processing, rather than faking the aesthetic with lookup tables and texture overlays. It builds on prior work from composite-video-simulator, zhuker/ntsc, and ntscQT, porting their algorithmic approaches into a multithreaded, SIMD-accelerated Rust implementation.

The performance gains matter for actual production use: ntsc-rs can process footage in real time at resolutions well beyond native NTSC, where comparable tools like ntscQT struggle. It ships as a standalone app, a web build, and plugins for After Effects, Premiere, and any OpenFX host, which covers DaVinci Resolve, Hitfilm, and Vegas.
