Hashicorp's Mitchell Hashimoto Launches Superlogical, Starting With a Terminal Multiplexer

Superlogical is a new startup pitching itself as a “multiplexer for all work” — a single durable session layer that unifies the fragmented ways software gets built and run today: interactive development, automated CI and background jobs, and production operations. The founders argue these streams have always strained against tool boundaries, and that the rise of parallel AI agents makes the fragmentation more expensive rather than being its root cause. Their proposed fix is a persistent session wrapped around the work itself — one that carries context, exposes structured data and actions, keeps history, and can be driven by software while staying visible and controllable by humans.

The company’s roadmap has three stages: build a strong multiplexer, make its components composable, then make it safe to operate in production. The starting point is a modern terminal multiplexer that keeps terminal blocks in a long-lived session you can detach from and reconnect to from any device. Unlike incumbents like tmux, it targets web and native macOS/iOS clients, bakes in live session sharing, and fixes common annoyances around scrollback, selection, and scrolling. The team frames the terminal as the connective tissue between developers, agents, tools, and infrastructure — a deliberately narrow beachhead for a broader ambition.

The pedigree is the story’s real hook: Superlogical is led by Mitchell Hashimoto, creator of the Ghostty terminal and co-founder of HashiCorp (Terraform, Vault, Vagrant), alongside HashiCorp’s first employee Jack Pearkes and design leaders from Vercel, Heroku, and Poolside. The product is still pre-beta, with a signup list and promised open-source releases along the way, so the vision currently outpaces anything shippable — but the founding team’s track record in developer infrastructure makes it worth watching.
