Grand Canyon raft guide rows California to Hawaii solo, beats men's and women's speed records

Kelsey Pfendler, a longtime Colorado River raft guide, reached Honolulu on Friday after rowing her 21-foot boat roughly 2,400 miles solo from Monterey, California. She completed the mid-Pacific crossing in just under 44 days — faster than both the prior women’s record (86 days) and the men’s record (52 days) tracked by the Ocean Rowing Society International, which adjudicates such feats for Guinness World Records. The Society had not yet formally confirmed the result at the time of reporting.
