Most parts complete in under two hours on the 250-square-centimeter build platform, with layer resolution down to 25 micrometers. The system maintains tight dimensional tolerances across varying feature sizes.

Environmental safety and user health shaped the design approach. The printer uses low-odor resins, incorporates an enclosed print chamber, and achieves UL GREENGUARD Gold certification when paired with an optional volatile organic compound extractor. Complete safety documentation accompanies all resin products.

The printer features an open-platform architecture, supporting nine Formlabs materials and third-party resins via Open Material Mode. Users can access materials from both the manufacturer and compatible external suppliers, avoiding single-vendor lock-in.
