DaVinci Resolve 21 adds Photo page and AI tools for de-aging, voice cloning, search

Blackmagic Design’s DaVinci Resolve 21 extends the editor well beyond video, adding a dedicated Photo page that brings the software’s node-based color grading, power windows, and qualifiers to still images. Photographers can manage albums, tether Sony and Canon cameras for live capture, apply Resolve FX and LUTs, and collaborate through Blackmagic Cloud alongside editors and colorists.

The release leans heavily on generative and analytical AI. IntelliSearch indexes media so users can find clips or photos by spoken dialog, objects, or specific faces. A voice model can clone a speaker from a 10-second sample, while Face Age Transformer, Face Reshaper, Blemish Removal, and CineFocus apply face manipulation and synthetic depth-of-field effects to moving footage. UltraSharpen and Motion Deblur target upscaling and artifact cleanup, and Slate ID auto-extracts clapperboard metadata.

Elsewhere, editing pages gain richer keyframing with ease curves and four-point Bezier retiming, direct Fusion adjustments from the cut and edit timelines, native OGraf and Lottie graphics import, character-level text styling, and smart bins. Fusion picks up 70+ Krokodove graphics, Fairlight adds folder-based track organization, and immersive and VR delivery formats get broader support.
