Cursor strips dollar costs from usage page and CSV, zeroes them out in its API too

Cursor pushed a change on July 31, 2026 that makes usage reporting token-only for all self-serve tiers, including Teams. The dollar Spend metric and Cost column vanished from the dashboard, exported CSVs now show “Included” or zero instead of real charges, and the get-filtered-usage-events API returns zeroed fields (chargedCents, usageBasedCosts) — retroactively, so historical records that once held real values now read as $0 as well. Enterprise plans keep dollar figures; the company frames the split as intentional, arguing that individual plans caused confusion because displayed dollar amounts often exceeded what users actually paid thanks to generous included usage.

Users aren’t buying the rationale. Many describe checking the cost breakdown multiple times a day to manage budgets, evaluate model efficiency, and — on Teams plans — track per-user and per-model spend against shared on-demand caps. One Teams admin managing roughly $30K in a billing cycle now has no clean per-user, per-model dollar view; another built external reporting on the API fields that were silently removed. Cursor’s suggested fallbacks (Dashboard > Spending for cycle totals, Members > On-Demand for per-user sums, and the separate Admin API for Teams cost data) provide only coarse aggregates, not the per-request granularity people relied on.

The core grievance is transparency: for a metered product where customers pay per request, removing per-request cost visibility — and doing so retroactively — breaks any independent cost tracking. Multiple commenters proposed keeping the dollar figure but clearly separating included usage from billable on-demand charges, rather than hiding cost entirely. As of the thread, Cursor has confirmed the change is deliberate and permanent, with no toggle to restore the old view for self-serve plans.
