AI Developer Launches Open-Source Adobe Alternatives

Artcraft, initially an AI tool for artists, has pivoted to creating open-source alternatives for Adobe’s popular software suite. Developer Brandon Thomas used AI to build clones of Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, and other Adobe tools in Rust. Thomas claims these apps, currently in an early alpha state, will reach near-full feature parity within months. The project is funded by selling access to Artcraft’s visual AI model. Thomas envisions a future where AI tools enable developers to recreate popular paid software, aiming to ‘de-enshittify’ the tech world.
