Agent Skills Donated to Independent Standards Body

Anthropic has donated the Agent Skills standard to the Agentic AI Foundation, a Linux Foundation initiative co-founded by Anthropic, Block, and OpenAI. The move ensures Agent Skills remains open, community-driven, and vendor-neutral. This follows Anthropic’s previous donation of the Model Context Protocol to the same foundation.

Industry observers predicted this outcome when Anthropic first declared Agent Skills to be an open standard. The donation consolidates multiple AI standards under a single independent governance structure, with both Agent Skills and MCP now under the AAIF’s stewardship.
